HID's have always been illegal on roads. That's why all the boxes say for off-road use only. And, exhausts are illegal, no matter what, and there has always been a lot of restriction on lights. Since when is any of this news.....?

I have been stopped by cops and they have seen my lights. I even had a cop comment on my lights saying they looked nice on the car. I for one thought they were road legal unless you went over 10k. I also didn't know that blue lights under you car were also illegal. So this is news to me. All exhaust are not illegal. It depends on the type of exhaust and how loud the exhaust is. There are exhaust that are actually significantly less loud than the stock. So therefor you are wrong. Do research, post something helpful or don't post at all.

any modification that is not making your car a f-in formula car driving down the street should be perfectly fine. COPS, go search for the metheads and leave the car enthusiasts alone. we arent doin anthing wrong. HELL cops mod out there cars for suspension and they add lights that could drain down the battery. So all i have to say is F!@# YOU police, let us do what we want

In Ontario HIDs are illegal if they go over 300 candela.. it makes sense because some cars have ridiculously bright HIDs and can blind drivers coming towards them. I'm not sure about how it works with the way you set them up and if you have to bypass anything on certain cars. Although I've heard that cars with projector housing ie. Lancers are okay because they're made for HIDs.

Anyway beard_irish.. police have modifications that assist in the lawful execution of their duties. Doesn't really matter if the lights drain out the battery of the car, does it?

Exhaust in itself isn't illegal; it's the noise it makes that can get you a ticket. It's up to the discretion of the officer. Usually I won't give anybody a ticket for loud exhaust unless it's excessively obnoxious. If it's a low hum then I think it's okay. Can't speak for other cops though... some officers go word for word in the HTA.

my advice to everyone is go to your local dmv, buy a code book, and then you can look up anything and everything that is illegal. trust me, there are plenty of things you think that are illegal when they are not. if its not in the code book then its legal, its that plain and simple.

Im with Chizzy on this one...it really depends on how obnoxiously loud it is. I think Ive only given two tix for loud exhaust...and one was a ford escort running open headers...?? You will come across the officer that just came out of the academy and tries to be a bad-ass and tickets everything he or she can. as for HID's...I somewhat overlook them...except for one guy i stopped a few nights ago for having the brightest pink lights i have ever seen...he had the damn tings in the heads and in the fogs....waaayyy too bright.
