i have a 16g turbo with an internal wastegate. the only turbo manifold for my 02 oz rally is the one RRM has with a built in flange for an external wastegate. i cant have TWO wastegates. my buddy said you can take the turbo apart, and weld the spring down, (or something like that). that way, you can use an external wastegate. it's either do that, or weld a metal plate over the wastegate flange on the manifold and keep the internal wastegate. so is this true? is there something inside the turbo that you can weld down in order to get rid of the internal wastegate?? thanks.

i don't see why you can't run boath. i would try that first but you could weld the plate in the turbo shut

if it was me id cover the external. welding inside may have issues. try a metal cap of some sort that way u can undo it if its wrong.
