Wanting to paint the piping on my CAI.

You should be able to use pretty much any paint, but you need to make sure the surface is prepped first. Since its SS, you will need to scuff up the finish and then prime it first. After the primer has dried, you should be able to paint with any color you choose.

 

After you are done painting make sure you get some clear coat. Preferably high heat paint with high heat clear cloat. I got my paint from a auto parts store near me.

 

Get the finest you can. If you get regular it will scratch it up and it wont be smooth.

I'm doing this now done sand and primer now letting it dry so I can paint it.

 

I let each coat I put up there dry for a day each. Since I didn't need the lower half immediately. This was to make sure it did dry completely. Make sure to get some kind of clear gloss protective coat. Anything can scratch the paint off if not protected?

That red coupler stands out like a petiphile at an elemetary school. Go to autozone and get one of their $8 couplers. Better quality than the junk that kit came with. I know, I had the same kit that didn't make any sense.

 

I'll leave them for now to much of a pain to take off

 

you have that long pipe in backwards. that random peice of metal is so you can screw your intake into the frame.

but the painting looks really nice, hows it holding up?

 

they did not make the pipe long enough I turned it every way and it fits this way best. there is no were to bolt it to the frame, the only place that it will bolt to is were the O2 sensor clips on the motor.

 

you drill a hole in your frame. make sure its in the the middle of your fame or else youll weaken it, where did you get your intake from?

 

I already had a hole on my frame pre-drilled for a CAI. It was threaded and everything. Like it was oem.

no pre drilled hole for me. Filter came with the kit, it's a cone filter like a K@N you can get from autozone ect.
