when you guys are up here in norcal you might see a lancer with a radar gun on it...that would be me...so i suggest you make sure your radar is working :D :D :D

kind a fun messing around with drivers who has radar detectors on their car...i tend to follow them around till they panic like hell... :D :D :D

And my point was that cops don't just use radar. I used to be a cop, I know how radar guns work. I was certified to carry one while on patrol. A radar detector is pointless by itself. Think about it, if your detector is picking up a radar gun, do you not think that the radar guns hasn't picked you up? You need to get a detector that has a scrambler/cloak capability and detects laser speed guns.

ok i guess i forgot to mentioned that my radar do have those cloaking & scrambler. and for the lasers i guess thats where my radar falls off. the laser on my radar is only good for 10ft...

Well the thing about radar detectors such as the V1 is had a WIDE range and multiple bands, so if there are police With their radar on, within... well long enough to give me chance to slow down and avoid one ticket, it would pretty much pay for itself there

i know south carolina uses instant on radars. Trust me. THey are good. Detectors really dont pick them up untill they have really hit you, But if they are hitting the cars infront of you then you will get luckey. Thats why i like my cobra it goes from one to 5 so i know how close i am

In my opinion not even worth it. There is all these detectors that detect a, b, c, d, x, g, o, f, nx, kz, ma, (sarcasm) and what not signals and they just beep like crazy at cross lights, etc..

If your going to buy one, buy a well worth it one, not just some sub 100$ ones you find at target or something (cobra, etc).

Bought a 40$, 110$, and 175$ one. When it came to the ticket, haha, can't save your butt for nothing.

thats why I'm going for the tuned V1 radar detector, it's worked out most bugs on which are false alarms and such, and tells you what direction the signal would be coming from, so 'm good with that :D

My suggestion would be to do the research yourself and make a decision. Feedback should be taken with a grain of salt because each area has its known police hot spots as well as only you know how many and where police usually are. Same can be said for when you go out of town. My 2 cents is to just research a few review sites to get a base as well as learn about the different radar bands figure out what is primarily used in your area as well as what will cover where you travel the majority of the time. Some sites I have found helpful are:

    http://www.radartest.com/

    http://www.radarbusters.com/

    Two more things to know...

    1) I owned an Escort Passport 8550 for a while and it worked fairly well

    2) Escort and Beltronics are the same company and essentially comprobable to each other, so it makes no difference which you get if you go with one of those two brands.

a radar cant save you sometimes... I saw a cop setting up to use his radar one day so i knew where he was gonna be, the next day I passed him and my radar went off and said "laser" I wasnt speeding so I didnt get a ticket but my point is my radar didnt go off because cops sometimes wait for you, for instanace a cop will have his radar off and then when he sees you turn it on a then radar you.. at that point your radar is helpless.

And theres no way to detect cops who do the two white line set up. And theyre always where you cant see them until your past em.
