Car Insurance...Ripped off or not?

    Hey guys! Just so you all know i'm very new to all of this forum stuff but i bought a GTS about 2 weeks ago and this forum has been very useful to me so keep it up.

    My question tho, is on average how much are you guys paying for car insurance. Obviously some of you are over 25 so i'm pretty sure its cheaper once you reach that age but seeing as i'm 20 and have no points on my license and only one accident does it make sense for me to be paying $500 a month for car insurance??

    Wow. 500 a month is too much.

    I'm only at 134 /month. I'm 20 also.

    tatsujo....who do you go through? and i have done other quotes but they really aren't much different. I go through Geico now but i looked at Progressive and Nationwide. They were lower but not substantially

    Wow, your definitly getting raped by your insurence company.

    Put it this way....

    My previuos car was a seven year old Hyundia Elantra that I bought new for $13,500.

    I bought the new 2008 elantra for $19,200.

    My insurence company actually gave me a $85 credit becuase even though its a more exspensive, brand new car, the 08 lancer is top notch when it comes to safety.

    I can see if you got a bunch of points on your license and 3 accidents, then maybe you would be close to that amount, but that price they are charging you is way out of line... I mean, call the better buisness beuro out of line..

    try AIS (Auto Insurance Specialist), they saved me $100 a month

    see thats the thing tho....i have nothing on my license other than an accident. My last car was a 97' Monte Carlo and i had no collision or comprehensive and i was paying $200 a month with Geico.

    nah its $500 a month for the first 4 months of a 6 month policy so its about 2 grand every six months(if you don't feel like doing the math)

    Hmm, I don't know where you live. With me, I go through Eastwood. I'd say shop around for quotes. Don't fall for those online "we give you rates of our competitors" b/s. Just call directly and ask around.

    I've done that but like i said there really isn't a big dollar difference. I've had 8 tickets since i got my license but everything has been reduced to parking tickets. So technically I shouldn't have any points on my license. I plan on going to the DMV tomorrow to look at my driving records tho so i'll find out for sure.

    my .2 is that that is way to much. my little 16 year old bro pays that much for his 03 eclipse

    i got the General and only pay $100 a month for full coverage on everything, but my deductible is $1000, which i will lower soon. so i expect my payment to go up a little but $500 a month is ridiculas, i dont even think my friend is paying that much for his '06 Evo. i think his is only like $230-260

    lol yeah well i knew when i bought the car it was gonna go up but i didn't realize how much my monthly payments were gonna be. I figured....well its got 7 airbags and DRL's so it should bring the cost down a tad ya know?

    try it. i did.

    put your info in and see what quotes OTHER companies have for you. they do all the work finding a cheaper rate for you.

    if you're this concerned that you are paying too much then you have really nothing to lose by AT LEAST attempting to see if Esurance.com can help you
