I think someone on here is doing something like that. I think Jogenmaru is. Not really sure, but I remember him posting about doing it and all the pieces he was going to use. Say something about this Jogen.

 

I did say something on my ipod but my post was deleted. Like it never showed up in the first place. Oh well. Was most likely my fault. And it was shieldwolf. Not me. I estimate it would cost around $1200 to do this with a decent computer and not a gaming computer. But Shieldwolf was looking into installing a touch screen on his 7g. I think this mod is more or less for the newer lancers since they have a double din radio. If I had the space to do something like this I would but we are only single din and it would require us 7g lancers to remove the a/c controls and whatnot to do it. Or put in in the passenger side where the glove box is. Thanks for putting me on the spot. It brought about an idea. Ima have to measure that up.

But I think it would require a decent computer. A touch screen monitor (obviously). a long cable from pc to monitor. An external battery and something to convert the power source to hook up the computer. It's an interesting idea. But I travel and I don't have the room in the trunk to do that. Although I could try it. I have a pc right now and i could do this but I am half way to my turbo and I am finally moving out with my gf on January 1st. So I want to do the turbo first and then start with the pc part. I can also use it as a way to datalog and manage. +3

 

List of what you would need. I don't think this would be a complete list. I haven't even bothered trying this yet due to the radio restriction.
A touch screen monitor with dvi or hdmi input or both, that would fit your double din. (its easier to get these cords long than trying to find a standard vga cable really long)
A computer chasis that you can put in your trunk and install it with carpet to hide it and look good. Thats really going to be the hard part.
A spare battery.
The spare cigarette lighter such as the one currently installed in your car.
A fuse for this cigarette lighter so you wont get a short and overload your computer.
A cigarette lighter to plug converter. I don't know what these are called. The converter that lets you plug your TV into your car and power on. That thing.
Something to mount the battery onto so it won't go flopping around in the trunk.
I would choose liquid cooling instead of air cooling like the guy in the video did. It would get pretty hot in the trunk.
A long usb cord. Just in case someone brings an ipod or mp3 player in your car you can hook it up to your pc and go from there.
A zip ties. Lots of those so you can bundle your wires together.

I might have missed something.

Oh how could I have forgotten this idea. Something that would allow you to hook your speakers in your car to the computer.

 

Oh yeah, I remember now. My bad, yo. Lol.

the issue putting it any higher is it technically blocks your view as a driver "officially" that why I chose where I did. But look at the the MIMO itouch screen I mention its about 140ish and is around the same size and is USB power touchscreen.

Then you can mount the monitor somewhere like where the passenger side airbag is and have it so you can lift it. Then run the obd II cable under the dash to the usb port on the laptop. This will allow you to have a stealth pc to tune your car with. You might also be able to put in a touch screen and use the rca's to connect to the laptop.

Just my thoughts on what could be done. the most costly part would be the fab you would have to do on the dash, depending on what kind of laptop you use.

I already installed the car pc in my Indian Lancer GLXi 2000 model.

I bought BYByte double din enclosure with liliput lcd monitor.
And the Mini -ITX motherboard from intel.
I ordered the PSU(with automatic shutdown controller) from china

I already ran this setup for an year in Nissan Latio in Singapore and after returning to India in lancer. the system is in boot.
