OK, so you definately need 2 plates, one on front and one on the rear. The questions here are... Define Front and Define Rear. To me this means if you don't want a plate on your bumper, you don't need it as long as it is visible from the front (i.e. in your windsheild).
there may be more to this, i'll try digging deeper later. this is just to get the ball rolling on this new forum

lol, I had my lancer for 1.5 years now, and only have the 1 in the rear, and havent been messed with about it, even when pulled over. Guess it depends on where you are and how leniant the cops are...

its a rediculous law, the way I see it, if a cop is goint to pull you over, he aint gon be able to see the front plate, if he wants my lisence plate numer its right there in front of him on the rear bumper, lol.

The plates are looking at a change.. they will be putting a barcode on the plates coming up so that when law enforcement pass it will pick up the barcode and bring up your history
such as insurance, registration, and inspection. i know of two insurance companies that are already in the process of getting on the data banks with texas law officials, the insurance company will be able to hit a button when you dont pay and it instantly tags it to the barcode. Also Starting Nov1st Texas you will be able to get 7 digits on custom plates
you may have noticed the 7 digits on exempt cars already and new tags custom ones will start Nov 1st..
