Hello! I am new to this and not very tech smart so please forgive me when I screw this up. Recently my son purchased an 06 Lancer. It drove great at first with no problems. After purchasing it we had new tires put on it and new brakes as well. Also an alignment and oil change. Then for the final thing the air filter was changed as his was really dirty. After all of this the car started to sputter at stop signs and stop lights. After sputtering the car would then stall out. While starting to stall the lights on the dash would come on and then go off. The RPM gauge would go up and down. The air conditioning will go warm too. After the car stalls out it is then able to be started again and driven fine until another stop. Took the vehicle to have it looked at and they said the battery was fine and the alternator was fine. They hooked it up to some kind of machine and they said that when the car was reading 5000 RPMs that the machine was reading it as 1600 RPMs therefore they said that it was an electrical problem. They informed me that they did not do electrical work there and that I should take it to the dealership. I have no problem with taking this vehicle to the dealer to look at but my concern is the safety. The nearest dealer to us is almost an hour away and I fear for anyone to drive the vehicle at all let alone that far, especially considering that most of the trip will be interstate with stopping and going due to traffic. I have been doing some research online and have seen that there have been several complaints from people with this same vehicle having the same problems and they have not been able to resolve it even after having the dealership look at it. I guess what I am trying to find out here is if anyone could possibly have an idea as to what is causing this. Also does anyone know how to stop it so I can get it to the dealer to look at. I have seen that there are recalls for the 08 to 13 Lancers in what sounds like the same problem but not for this year. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologize for any errors or rules I may have broken while writing this. I am older and do not do this sort of thing. I am a very concerned mother just looking for help. Thank you!
