hey guys, me and my wife will be driving to vancouver, so here's the plan- Oct 3, Friday, will be driving to Calgary (hopefully be there the same day) roam the city Saturday morning then drive to Banff later that day, stay at Banff Saturday night, leave Banff Sunday morning and head straight to Vancouver, then probably Oct 9 will be going to Edmonton, stay there for the night and go back home the following afternoon (hopefully be back home for thanksgiving). It's my first time driving that far and i'm not familiar with all those places, so any TIPS, nice CHEAP hotels to stay in and TOURIST SPOTS to go to would be very much appreciated.
so ive been looking aroung for hotels in the calgary area and the cheapest i've found is the Ramada Hotel Downtown Calgary,$109/night, is this a good hotel?
anything downtown calgary hotel wise is generally not 2 bad i would believe xcept for the cecil hotel.... stay as far away from there as possible but if ur checkin prices on hotels u mite want 2 try booking on expedia.ca, it shows how many stars and if u book through there it mite b cheaper for rates as for tourism goes..... there isnt much 2 do in calgary, besides mall shopping cause of no PST, and the only malls that r really worth visiting is id say chinook center and market mall, calgary tower is quite nice as well other then that not 2 much 2 do in calgary but in banff there is alot, just walk down banff ave and there is plenty to do, as well as hot springs, and there is the merman shop, gondolas and much much more. great tourism spot
umm other tips...... DONT SPEED calgary is cop infested, on average see 5 cops per day other then that, there isnt anything really more to say, except considering ur here during oct, u mite as well check out a flames game, i believe the new season starts in oct  have fun on ur trip
LOL, thanks for the reminder, it was just a couple months back when i got an overspeeding ticket, $278, 25km over limit, 2nd ticket this year,
As far as things to do in Banff, there's horseback riding, the hot springs are a MUST, take the Gondola up the mountain, pretty views up there, 'specially in the fall. As far as hotels go I dont remember the names of them, but there's a few "downtown" Banff. (Banff's a tiny little town). There's not much to see other than mountains on the way to Vancouver. It's about an 8 hour drive from the Alberta border and I believe the only big city you pass through is Kamloops. The rest are all small little towns along the way. Once you get to Vancouver, there's lots of cheap hotels outside the downtown core. You can park your car at the hotel and take the SkyTrain pretty much any place you like. Hope that helps
thanks, vacouver i don't worry that much cause i have an uncle there where we will stay and he'd be the one showing us around, so calgary's done, banff's kinda set, now its just edmonton, edmonton LT's help me out here,
hehehe, that's the only place i can think of where i hear edmonton, will definitely be checking that place
they dont call it deadmonton for a reason rofl i think that huge mall is all there is 2 do at edmonton, and that casino which is located inside the mall rofl
