Everyone call your dealer to have this replaced. I found this on a website I was researching Fleets on, http://www.automotive-fleet.com/News/St ... rstitial=1 They don't plan to announce it til April. Get a head start Info Straight from The Gov't Vehicle Make / Model: Model Year(s): MITSUBISHI / LANCER 2008-2009 MITSUBISHI / OUTLANDER 2008-2009 NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 09V077000 Summary: MITSUBISHI IS RECALLING 39,711 MY 2008-2009 OUTLANDER AND LACER VEHICLES. INCORRECT MATERIAL COMPOSITION OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER CHECK VALVE MAY CAUSE THE CHECK VALVE TO STICK CLOSED WHEN THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RE-STARTED AND PUT INTO MOTION, UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS (VERY SLOW VEHICLE MANEUVERS), THERE MAY BE INSUFFICIENT INITIAL BRAKING ASSIST. Consequence: THIS MAY TEMPORARILY INCREASE THE STOPPING DISTANCE OF THE VEHICLE AND THEREFORE INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER CHECK VALVE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING APRIL 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MITSUBISHI AT 1-800-222-0037. Notes: MITSUBISHI RECALL NO. SR-09-002. I posted this on an announcement...must have gotten bumped. Most dealers don't even know about this yet. Wait till after the 1st and then they may have updated databases
Great find blklancer. Ya for some reason mitsubishi has aways had underperforming breaks, but this recall is quite serrious. 8O
The dealer told me that all vehicles that are affected by this will be recieving a notice about it. If not to call the dealer after the 1st and give them your VIN to see if you're on the list. I called 3 dealers and this is what they told me.
i went to my dealership earlier this week and my VIN came out negative. Im assuming you just bring the printout of the issue and your VIN.
when i saw this, i started to think, no wonder ive had to increase my braking distance, and with new brakes too
i know this is pretty late but i never recieve any recall notice and i got the car since Oct 2007, now it is still 2011 and it been 4 years, does that mean i am in the clear with my car? or is it something i have to ask about or bring into the mit's dealer to see?
Next time you bring your car in for service have them check your records. It's possible they did it and never told you.
