My friend who said he'd put my SRI on for me said that if I just buy the filter (which is much cheaper) he could put it on and it would give the same result as the more expensive RRM one? I don't get what he means... perhaps someone can explain. I mean, if it was that simple wouldn't everyone just buy the filters for like $50?
You're friend didnt look close enough, The rrm one comes with a small piece of pipe that has a place for your MAF sensor to go. So unless he can make one of those for you, he is wrong.
Oh okay I'll let him know. He looked at my car, then we came in and looked at the tiny pic on RRM's site so we were just going by that. I'll go ahead and order the SRI then
Do they all generally sound the same? My friend sent me a vid of the RRM one on his Lancer and I loved the way it sounded. I'm new to the whole Tuner thing (I'm used to muscley-cars!) I'll check out the site you suggested aswell.
from the drivers seat, sri are usually louder than cai. believe it or not, changing the cone filter (depending on which brand) there are distinct sounds of "growl"
Oh okay. So to install the SRI he has to remove the air filter box thinger right? Then the air sensor clips into the top of the filter and just sits on top? If I go with the RRM then I just keep the original tubey thing there. (dont you love how I dont know the names for anything? )
yes u retain the factoy rubber tube, the point of that is to calm the air flow down before it reaches the throttle body. we just got a whole batch of SRI in they are still warm.
LOL...Women Yes to the air box "thinger," The maf sensor is bolted/screwed onto the pipe. Check it: http://www.lancertuners.com/modules.php ... m=23&pos=2 Hope this helps.
Women...you gotta love us... Alright, thanks guys!! I'll go ahead and order myself a nice new SRI Now I just gotta find someone that sells those nifty blue wire loom thingies! (For some reason you can't find anything cool in Canada!)
Aw. Don't tell me you're one of those guys who can't commit!! Y'know the whole "I love it but I'm not IN LOVE with it" type
your friend was basically trying to save you some cash. Though the performance aspect of a Short ram vs. Drop-in Filter is minimal it seems that you like that "growl" from the short-ram. I had the rrm shorty and it did sound very nice. you won't be disapointed
Ok, well I just hope I'm making the right choice. If you say I won't be disappointed I'm happy to hear that! And WTF is that supposed to be? A Pokemon?! And mine's CVT.
