I was just looking at my taillights a few hours and I thought of something...
I noticed the painted edges of my taillights...and it seems that it gives out the RA style of it a bit more even though the cover is reddish...

I havent tried this yet with a regular red taillight but it can be easily done using plasti-dip...

just paint the edge of all the taillight pieces about 1/2" to 3/4"...

see if its suits your taste to whoever wants to try it...

heres what i mean about what im talking about...

Wait.. you want to paint the headlight casing instead of cracking it open and painting the inside?

Just open them up... here's a couple examples... I'll be opening up a set in Spring when it warms up. For now I have "Ralliart" tails (which are no longer Ralliart exclusive).

Second one has VHT NiteShades, which is a spray tint, to try and do away with some of the pink color. Both have that black outline like you mentioned which is an absolute must for the look you're going for.

So I'm really confused.... you've had your tails blacked out for a while, but never put the black ring of paint around the outside? If that's what you're saying then yes, I agree 100%, you should add it. It does away with a lot of the pink.

Have any pictures of the LEDs on? I'm going to get into this project, blacking out, putting the black trim around the outsides, and installing LEDs. I have a layout in mind and a method of installing them, but I just wanted to see your example first to maybe learn from your mistakes or learn from your positive experience.

look at it carefully, i do have the ring on it, just not thick enough to be noticeable...
i added the ring to cover the nicks & dings of the cover cause by the dremel...

heres my LED tails now...im not done yet cuz of work using up all my time...

Aw fuck, that's sorta how I planned my LEDs... not the outter-most square looking thing, I'm gonna leave that as a normal bulb, but the first outter circle is exactly how I was gonna do it :x

    Here was my design:

    that would actually work too...
that was my 2nd option...i was doing some R&D before i finalized the whole thing...
i'll be opening them up again when I get some free time...with a little touchup

What are you doing about the brake light though? More LEDs light up when brakes are pressed?
