    Hey there,

So, as the title says I am looking into an engine swap from a 4b12 to an EVO X 4b11t. I wanted to know if this was in anyways possible, and get some thoughts and comments on the subject. Thanks :)

it is possible but you'll probably have to upgrade your transmission too!

Especially if you have the CVT

+ clutch if manual, turbo, exhaust manifold, intercooler, ECU ! Not to mention you will transfer power only to front wheels.

It would be cheaper to get RA instead of swapping engines ;)

I'd definitely need a new clutch, however the rest of it comes with the engine. It's definitely no where near the price of a ralliart, plus I can do the work myself so I'll save big if all goes my way :).

Keep in mind that this is NOT about saving money or getting a cheap evo... I'm doing this because I want to, I want to build something, not buy it. It'll mean more that way and I'll enjoy it more. Sounds corny as hell, but I'm sure there are some who understand what I'm saying.

I say go for it. It seems like it would be an easier swap than if I tried it for my car...

Well I figure it has the same mounting points and whatnot, same frame and everything so it should just bolt up. I'm also looking into an AWD conversion from the EVO X

AWD conversion is more complex than everyone thinks, dont forget all the wires setup for your different AWD settings, then u need to go widebody unless u get custom made shorter axleshafts but then u wont be able to fit the tires as wide as on an X and the 300hp 4b11t is just wasted cause of poor grip form skinny tires, just like on the RA.

Good luck with all the errors and CEL lights in the LCD display.

Im for the 4b11t engine swap but forget the AWD conversion

Just get another car. To do the Evo X AWD conversion it would cost you about $15,000 to get the ACD, AYC, and ASC systems

Hats off to you for taking on a good size project as this... There is a good sense of accomplishment on building your own projects.
    Good luck..

    +1
you'll just be waisting a pot load of money...if you have the money for a swap just use it and buy an EVO, it will save you a lot time...
heck if i have the money, I wouldnt think twice of getting an EVO or an STI...

i know you shouldnt beat a dead horse lol but yea the awd conversion is a little too much man. the engine swap is very interesting and unique but after that its just kinda...a waste lol but to each his own if you do it then shit man ill bow down and praise you for it haha

It's all about how much I can get the parts for, again I can do alot of the work myself and I highly doubt it'll cost anywhere near that amount of money. I'm already looking at under 5 for the engine, I'll have to see about the drivetrain though. It's a thought, I haven't started anything nor do I have the funds to do so at the moment but I'll keep you guys updated.

I'm sure it will be, I know it'll be a massive pain in the ass but if I am able to pull it off, it will be a massive accomplishment

Have you researched all the differences between the 4b11 and 4b11t yet?
